This is my second day on the program. After reaching a plateau with another program I was on, I decided it was between Atkins and Extreme Fat Smash. I tried Atkins for 3 days and the induction period was murder. I decided that 'feeling' healthy was just as important as reaching my weight loss goals, so I decided on Dr. Ian.

Starting July 1 I was 176. Today, July 3, I am 174 (both with clothes on). This isn't water weight, as I had already lost 20lbs. This was pure fat.

What I enjoy most is the smaller meal sizes. There is a ton of flexibility in the program and I love the fact that I can have mayo :)

I exercise my butt off, I do bonus cardio, lift weights and the like. I make sure I eat the portion sizes and follow the program as it is outlined.

I also love it because it is all spelled out for me, menus, cardio time frames, body type, recipes.

I suggest it to anyone.

Interesting! Many diest work, but most people overeat even when they get one that works, and undo all the good they've done. The habits of a lifetime very difficult to break, however there's several ways that you can trick your mind into eating less:

1- Use a side plate instead of a dinner plate for your meals. The smaller plate means you serve less, and put less food in your mouth.

2- Drink plenty of water. The recommended amount is eight glasses a day. Drink one of those 30 minutes before your meal and you'll feel fuller before you eat.

3- Don't wear loose clothing. Your body needs to know when it is over-expanding with overeating, and a tight belt will indicate that.

4- Turn off food ads on television. Much of the food they present is artificially glamorized and is designed to make you feel hungry.

5- Keep one article of clothing that you wore before you gained weight, and try it on from time to time. As your eating plan progresses you'll find it easier to put on, and this will give you greater motivation to keep going.

I actually did this 'diet' last year and was very successful. I say 'diet', because that is what everyone calls this Extreme Fat Smash, but for me it was a life change. This book and meal plan really teach you portion control and after doing the 3 week cycle twice, I was more content with smaller portions at all meals. I'm 24 and very busy but found the time to cook for myself and get in those nightly work outs. I started the diet at 325 pounds and lost 65 pounds in about 6 months, of which I only did the extreme fat smash 21 day cycle twice, during the first 42 days and then maintained myself thereafter. I highly recommend reading the book at the very least (it takes about 20 minutes to get through) then decide if this plan is for you. Many people like myself cannot follow a broad and general diet plan and need specific plans of what to eat at EVERY meal and how long to workout each and everyday. This helps keep you on track and the length of the plan makes it so much more achievable; you just have to think in one week intervals in terms of losing the weight!

Good luck to anyone else who tries this!

This diet is definitely worth a try. I like the fact that it provides daily specifics. Nothing to lose here but pounds. Thanks for sharing.

Last fall I was finally so disgusted with my weight and lack of self-control that I went on a popular 12 week program which combines rotating exercises and multiple, small portion sizes to reduce weight and improve body health. Nothing is easy, but the rewards included slimming down by 25 lbs and feeling better than I have in 5 years. So my bottom line is, there are a lot of good programs, pick one and do it and receive the results. - To a more healthy life- Nate
